Fund Raising Campaigns
Annual Campaign
As a non-profit organization, we not only rely upon year long donations, but also fund raising campaigns. Our Annual Campaign enables our center to raise lump sums of funding for unforeseen expenses and larger center projects.
Neighbor to Neighbor Campaign
July 2020
Dear Friend,
For over 50 years Council of Social Concern has remained committed to making life better for our less fortunate neighbors. Now, Council of Social Concern’s programs need your support more than ever.
COVID-19 has touched everyone’s life. During this time of crisis, Council of Social Concern has continued to operate and offer resources and reassurance to the most vulnerable members of our community. Whether you have been furloughed from or lost your job, been isolated staying safe at home, or had your children out of school or childcare our agency’s services are a resource for those in need.
Since February, the number of households served by our Food Pantry increased by approximately 50%. Due to the generosity of many of our donors and dedicated volunteers we were able to safely provide emergency food assistance to all those who turned to us for help. Due to the uncertainty of the Postal Food Drive, a major source of donations for our Food Pantry, it will be a challenge to continue to keep our shelves fully stocked and meet the growing community need.
Our Children’s Center and Family Childcare System provides subsidized early education and childcare to children of low-income working parents, as well as children at risk of abuse or neglect. On July 1st, after being closed for almost 4 months due to gubernatorial order, the children were welcomed back to a dedicated staff seeking to provide comfort and normalcy to their students during this unprecedented time. Complying with the Department of Early Education & Care’s Reopening Guidelines has created new strategic and financial challenges. Reduced class sizes, increased cleaning costs, and adequate PPE all put a strain on our finite resources. We are turning to our donors to help us continue our mission for these children.
Please help us to meet the additional challenges we are facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic by making a generous donation to our Neighbor to Neighbor Appeal. Your donation will assist us in making a positive difference in the lives of our less fortunate neighbors.
With Much Appreciation,
Dean Solomon, Executive Director
Good Neighbor Campaign
The focus of our Good Neighbor Campaign is to pay down our mortgage. Paying down the mortgage allows our center to direct more financial resources directly towards those in need. We have a very busy center and have been able to impact a large part of the population.
